- The Imperative-Indicative Balance from Bryan Chapell (For the Church) – what we are to do for God (the imperative) rests on who we are in relation to God (the indicative); sermons should include both
- On Sermon Introductions from H. B. Charles, Jr. (For the Church) – introduce something, place the text in context, state the point of the message, give an accurate forecast, write it out, no dumping allowed, know your audience, practice variety, keep it brief
